Clothing Drive Success
Thank you all for your generous donations!
Sheevina Jaikasan was the brainchild of what we call the Clothing Drive for Covenant House. Since the very beginning of the semester, she was determined to help this wonderful cause. The collection drive began on the first of December with the purpose of collecting garments for the homeless youth at Covenant House. Thanks to the time effort contributed by each our members, and the garments contributed he extremely generous students of the campus, it was a success.
The marketing effort by the members was a big one. Over 30 flyers were posted around the school, 300 pamphlets handed out, each and every member contributed their time to stay at the table and collect bags of clothing. You donated shoes, purses, sweaters, t-shirts, pants, and much more. The New York Public Interest Group, a student-directed research and advocacy organization, held a fashion show in the school cafeteria to raise awareness of homelessness, after which they kindly donated all the garments worn by the catwalk-walkers to the cause.
Once again, thank you all for your time, energy, dedication, strength (whoever brought that impossibly heavy bag, we’re looking at you), contributions, and determination! You've helped countless children this season and we hope that karma gets back to you in a big way.
